Every jeweller who wants to sell jewellery in India then he can only sell the gold and silver jewellery or artefacts with a hallmark on them. As per the government guidelines, every jewellery must have the hallmark for its authorisation. BIS hallmark registration is compulsory for every jewellery sales outlet to sell hallmarked jewellery. Every Jeweller who have a particular premises or an outlet can apply for BIS hallmarking registration. Applicant have to submit an application on a specified format.

Corporate LicenseEvery jeweller have to register himself in the scheme of BIS hallmarking scheme if he want to sell Hallmarked gold and silver jewellery from his outlet. If a jeweller have more than one jewellery outlet then can get a corporate license of BIS hallmarking and that license will cover all the outlets of that jeweller. Jeweller have to follow some terms and conditions of the corporate license of BIS hallmarking. BIS will give a discount on the registration fees if jeweller take a corporate license for his business. 

List of Documents to be enclosed with the Application

1) Self certified copy of any one of following documents establishing the Firm:

  • Applicant must have a Trade license or a authority document from the state government. 
  • Applicant must have a certificate of incorporation with the sign of the company registrar. 
  • Applicant must have the document of partnership deed if they are running a partnership firm. 
  • Applicant must have certificate of proprietorship firm from a charted accountant if applicant have a proprietorship firm.

2) Self certified copy of any one of following documents authenticating the Firm'spremises (not older than 3 months) :

  • Applicant must have a Trade license or a authority document from the state government. 
  • Applicant must have the documents of sales tax and VAT tax registration documents. 
  • Applicant must have a tax assesment order.
  • Applicant must nhave the document of Insurance Policy.
  • Property tax receipt is also an important document for the BIS hallmarking registration. 
  • Applicant have to show the Rent agreement with last rent receipt OR Sale/ Lease Deed agreement (if applicable)
  • There are some more important documents like Electricity Bill, Telephone Bill, Water Bill, Gas connection Bill, Bank Statement/Pass Book containing the address of the sales outlet.

3) Any one of following documents as identity proof of signatory on the Once you are done with the registration part, you need to start the process of application. Here is a list of documents which you need for the process of application.

  • Aadhar Card 
  • Driving Licence 
  • PAN card 
  • Voter Identity card 
  • Passport 
  • Photo Bank ATM card 
  • Photo Credit card 
  • CGHS/ECHS photocard

  • Identity Certificate with photo issued by Gazetted Officer on official letterhead

  • Freedom Fighter photo card

  • Ration/PDS photo pard 
  • Photo ID issued by recognized educational institution 
  • Kissan Photo PassBook

4) The additional documentation required to be submitted with the application are asfollows:

  • Applicant have to arrange a non-judicial stamp paper of Rs. 100/- for the agreement. That agreement should be in a specified format.  
  • Applicant have to show the illustrative location map with some nearest landmarks.

Process of BIS Hallmark Registration Process

  1. Applicant have to arrange all the required documents which we have mentioned above.
